Elijah Canlas, one of the stars of Jun Lana’s “About Us But Not About Us,” won the prestigious Jury Prize award last night (April 11, 2023) at the 1st Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal (Awards Night) at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City. Earlier that day, Elijah and his costar Romnick Sarmenta were both officially nominated by the MMFF for the Best Actor award – an award that went Romnick’s way.

Award-winning actress Dolly de Leon, best known for her performance in Ruben Oslund’s “Triangle of Sadness,” chaired the jury of the Summer MMFF.

“About Us But Not About Us” ultimately garnered ten wins, easily dominating the first-ever summer edition of the long-running MMFF. The film first premiered last November of 2022 at the 26th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia. As one of the eight official entries of the MMFF, “About Us But Not About Us” will continue to screen in cinemas nationwide until April 18, 2023.
