During TJ Monterde’s Sarili Nating Mundo Auckland concert on October 11, 2025 at The Trusts Arena in New Zealand, special guest KZ Tandingan managed to raise more than 100 thousand pesos for those affected by the recent earthquakes that struck Cebu (magnitude 6.9) and Davao (magnitude 7.4) by performing the popular Budots dance on stage.
According to Director John Prats’ social media post, the crowd jokingly asked KZ to do the Budots dance as part of her act. KZ obliged but in exchange, the crowd had to donate for the benefit of the victims of the Cebu and Davao earthquakes. As reported during the show, using the QR code flashed on screen and by handing cash directly, the crowd (which quickly made their way to the front of the stage) managed to donate a total of 100,544.26 Philippine Pesos (converted from New Zealand Dollars). The funds were collected by the production team. John also mentioned that he and TJ joined the fun by performing the dance as well.
“Grabe lang, kung sino pa ang mga kababayan natin na nagpapakahirap magtrabaho para kumita ng pera, sila pa ang may malasakit para sa mga kababayan natin na naapektuhan ng lindol,” John said on his social media post.
(“It’s so moving to see your fellow countrymen – who are working hard abroad to make ends meet – show their compassion and generosity to those affected by the earthquakes,” John said on his social media post.)
The Auckland concert is one of the final shows of TJ Monterde’s historic Sarili Nating Mundo World Tour with the December 2 Abu Dhabi concert being the 40th and final show of the year. The tour was recently nominated for the Tour of the Year award for the upcoming Filipino Music Awards.
