After having gotten the honor of being one of only two Filipino theater stars to join the international touring cast of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music,” Markki Stroem has concluded the three-week run of the Broadway musical’s Manila season on a high note. Markki played the role of Rolf, the delivery boy who falls in love with Liesl von Trapp, a love story best remembered through the iconic song “Sixteen Going On Seventeen.”
Markki shared the honor with fellow Filipino theater artist Karylle Tatlonghari who played the role of Baroness Elsa von Schraeder.
The Broadway production’s Manila season lasted from March 7 to March 26, 2023 and it was staged at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater at Circuit Makati in Makati City, Philippines.
Jill-Christine Wiley played the role of Maria while Trevor Martin played the role of Captain von Trapp.
The international tour of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music” was presented by Broadway International Group, Broadway Asia, AMA Group of Companies, in association with GMG Productions.
