After his successful role as “Jacob” in the Philippine adaptation of the South Korean series “Flower of Evil” in 2022, the multi-awarded Filipino actor and the ultimate heartthrob Piolo Pascual is now ready and set to enter the world of musical theater, as he officially signed the contract to play the titular role of Crisostomo Ibarra for the upcoming stage musical “Ibarra” (which is based on Jose Rizal’s classic novel “Noli Me Tangere”).
“I’m just really excited to do this role. Actually, it’s a dream come true for me because back in high school, I saw this play in FEU. I also taught ‘Noli Me Tangere’ in high school during the Filipino week,” he said.
Moreover, opera and soprano singer Myramae Meneses will star as Maria Clara alongside Piolo.
Under the direction of Frannie Zamora, musical director Jed Balsamo, co-director Paul Morales, and playwright and librettist Jomar Fleras, the Tanghalang Una Obra announced that the musical will be staged starting June 8 to 18, 2023 in celebration of the 125th year Philippine Independence at the GSIS Theater, Roxas Blvd, Pasay City, Metro Manila.
Furthermore, the proceeds will support the feeding programs of Rise Against Hunger Philippines.
