The Philippines’ Ultimate Heartthrob, Piolo Pascual, won the Best Actor award for his performance in “Mallari” at the inaugural 2024 Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. The awarding ceremony took place at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles last February 2.

Piolo shares the honor with Dingdong Dantes who also won the Best Actor award for his performance on the record-breaking film “Rewind.”

“First of all, I’d like to thank the good Lord, our Lord, to God be the glory. If not for him, we won’t be here. And I’d like to thank the MIFF for this opportunity to showcase our films here in the States. And hopefully this is just the start of something bigger that will really catapult our talent worldwide…” Piolo shared during his acceptance speech.

The MIFF screenings took place at the iconic and historic TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood Boulevard from January 29 to February 1. Piolo attended the press conferences and Q&A sessions of both “Mallari” and “GomBurZa” – sharing his thoughts and experiences from the two films.

Piolo plays the lead role (or rather three lead roles) in “Mallari” and plays a supporting role in “GomBurZa.”

Award-winning actor Elijah Canlas was also nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award for “GomBurZa” at the MIFF but it ultimately went to Pepe Herrera for “Rewind.”
