Shanti Dope was officially introduced by the newest and biggest P-Pop talent search in the country, Top Class: The Rise to P-Pop Stardom, as the competition’s rap mentor and judge on April 8, 2022.
Performing his iconic songs ‘Nadarang’ and ‘MAU’, the young rapper indeed broke it down as he wowed the crowd and showed just how talented he is.
Humbly sharing that he too still has a lot to learn when it comes to the art of rapping, Shanti Dope is excited to see how he could help young hopefuls who are interested in the art of rapping.
In discussing possible collaborations with KZ Tandingan, whom he had prior award-winning collaboration with, Shanti Dope expressed his willingness and desire to make more music with Asia’s Soul Supreme, jokingly adding “KZ, baka naman (let’s go).”
One of the biggest takeaways future Top Class Trainees can take from the award-winning rapper was how to handle nerves, especially when it comes to performing. Looking back on his conversation with star rapper Gloc-9, Shanti Dope said “Kapag ‘di ka na kinakabahan sa ginagawa mo, ‘di ka na masaya sa ginagawa mo – wala na siyang thrill sa’yo. Kapag kinakabahan ka, mas dun mo subukan. (When you’re no longer get nervous, that means you no longer find happiness in what you’re doing. There’s no more thrill for you. So when you’re nervous, that’s when you push through.)”
Furthermore, the young rapper also added that young artists shouldn’t be afraid of trying new sounds and unleashing their emotions to the fullest.
Auditions for Top Class are still ongoing until April 20, 2022. The audition mechanics can be seen on the Top Class social media accounts: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram – @topclassofc, Tiktok – @topclassofficial, and Kumu – @topclass. Aspirants will have to go to the Top Class kumu channel to see and accomplish all the necessary steps for the audition.
Top Class is a game-changing show created through the collaboration of Kumu, Cignal Entertainment, TV5, and Cornerstone Entertainment. Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray will be the main host and KZ Tandingan will be the vocal coach.
