Sam Milby is set to star as Victor in the upcoming horror film “The Diary of Mrs. Winters.” He will be playing the love interest of Judy Ann Santos’ character Charity. Sam’s character is described as a blue-collar worker lacking ambition in life who is Charity’s ex-boyfriend. He was raised in Canada with his mother when he was a little child.
The last time Sam and Judy Ann worked together was decade ago on ABS-CBN’s melodrama television series entitled “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.” His most recent project was the 2022 television series “A Family Affair” where he played Dave Estrella.
During the film’s press conference last February 7, 2023, Sam shared his excitement in starring in his first-ever horror project. He also said that while he’s never worked with Direk Rahyan, he has done workshops under him where he got to appreciate how the director welcomes an actor’s perspective to help them get into character.
On taking on the project, Sam says that “…First time ko rin makapag horror. But in terms of why I accepted it also, I mean Direk Rahyan, Sir Ricky Lee, tapos si Juday. I didn’t have to read the script. Juday pa lang ‘yes’ na agad. After reading the script, it was really exciting, ang ganda ng kwento, it’s something really different. And syempre as an actor you want to do new roles and new experiences.”
“The Diary of Mrs. Winters” is about Charity, a bio-forensic assistant cleaner in Canada whose life gets cursed and starts to experience a series of unfortunate events with her loved ones after keeping the diary of an old lady who committed suicide. She must find a way to fight the curse and save the people she loves.
The film is to be directed by Rahyan Carlos. Rahyan co-wrote the film with National Artist for Film and Broadcast, Ricky Lee.
Aside from Sam Milby and Judy Ann Santos, the movie will also star Issa Litton, Robbie Wachtel, Lui Quambao Manansala, Liza Diño-Seguerra, Rechelle Everden, and Rhandy Torres.
Principal Photography will take place in Ontario, Canada at the end of February.
